So, it is said that a dip in Naini Lake - so called the lesser Manasarovar, earns merit equal to a dip in the great Mansarovar lake.
The Naina devi temple is also considered to be one of the 64 Shakti Peeths, or religious sites where parts of the charred body of Godess Sati fell on earth while being carried by the Lord Shiva. It is believed that the eye of Godess Sati fell here. Hence, this temple is called as NAINA-DEVI.
